Ready to
Build
Phase 1
Ben Weaver’s
crew expertly began grading and preparation of the site

Bartley Construction was responsible for the next several stages of
our project.
Here, the crew is marking the layout for footings and pier pads

The crew is now installing the CertainTeed New Construction Concrete
Footer Foundation System. Form A Drain is a patented, all-in-one,
stay in place, system that forms the foundation footing, provides
drainage and can be adapted to provide a sub-slab radon reduction
system. In addition to providing a superior footing, Form A Drain
creates an ideal drainage system, one that is parallel to the
footing and below the foundation wall.

La Farge’s
crew arrives with the concrete pump truck to begin pouring the
footers and pier pads.

7 trucks brought approximately 68 yards of concrete used to complete
this stage, with Bartley’s crew overseeing the pour.

Basement wall forms arrive

Basement walls forms are erected

Polystyrene arrives which will line the interior of the wall forms,
providing insulation. This is a hybrid ICF system (Insulated
Concrete Forms) called ThermaEZE. We chose not to use a
conventional ICF system for the basement, with polystyrene on the
exterior, due to concerns of termites/wood-bores nesting in the
polystyrene as it comes into contact with the ground.

concrete is poured

Here’s the first of ten trucks arriving with concrete to fill the
wall forms

Waterproofing of exterior walls was done with environmentally
friendly, Rub-R-Wall, a single component, 100% rubber copolymer that
is applied as a liquid. Once cured, it forms a flexible, seamless
rubber membrane that provides excellent resistance to air and vapor
transmission. Rub-R-Wall is asphalt free, non-toxic, and
non-carcinogenic.
